Certified psychological counselor
Motivation:
My interest in the subject of Intercultural Psychology arose from my own experience growing up as a child of Gastarbeitern (foreign workers invited by the German Government to work and live in Germany) and the realization that society impacts and shapes our lives in very different ways. My training as a Psychological Counselor in Individual Psychology refers to psychological method founded by Alfred Adler and his holistic theory of personality focussing on the concept of Functioning Integration into society.
The intensive study of his writings has confirmed experiences I made in my life. According to Alfred Adler the main criteria building a healthy mental state are future-oriented striving toward a goal of personal and socially useful significance and contribution, connectedness, feeling of equality and mutual respect between the individuals and groups resulting in the feeling of genuine security.
Focus:
- Intercultural counseling
- Personality disorders
- Basic forms of anxiety
- Communication and counseling skills
- Individual psychology and understanding of human nature
- Parent Counseling
- Coaching and communication
My area of expertise is on intercultural psychological counseling. Through participation at numerous projects and workshops in Germany and abroad and my work as a consultant at the Lower Saxony Crisis Hotline and SUANA/Kargah e.V. – Advice Center for Migrants, I have acquired professional experience and knowledge in the area of social affairs and counseling.
I solidified my qualifications and skills in further training and practical work in collaborative and self-designed projects. I am experienced working with people of diverse backgrounds with respect to ethnicity, socioeconomic status, nationality, immigration status, religion and sexuality. This allowed me to strengthen my ability to empathize and create a welcoming and safe space for addressing private issues and safely manoeuvering difficult situations. My goal is to share my experience and expertise with adults, children and young people to empower them and encourage to pursue mental well-being.
